邪悪な女 vs ケダモノ

　アメリカ民主党の重鎮，ペロシ議員が引退を表明した．次の選挙には立候補しない．

　"I think she did the country a great service by retiring," Trump continued. "I think she was a tremendous liability for the country. I thought she was an evil woman who did a poor job, who cost the country a lot in damages and in reputation. I thought she was terrible."》
　
　ペロシ議員の引退表明を受けてトランプは，上の引用記事にあるように，"I'm glad she's retiring," "I think she did the country a great service by retiring," "I think she was a tremendous liability for the country. I thought she was an evil woman who did a poor job, who cost the country a lot in damages and in reputation. I thought she was terrible." と述べた．
　これをみると，日本の政治家がいかに良識的であるかがわかる．
　憲政史上，論敵を罵倒したのは吉田茂ただ一人だ．いわゆる「バカヤロー解散」であるが，これとて吉田茂は小さい声で「バカヤロー」とつぶやいたのが事実という．
　すなわち，いかなる政敵であろうと，礼節をもって対するのが我が国の政治の伝統である．
　ところがトランプは，ペロシ議員をメディアの前で堂々と「邪悪で極悪な女だった」と述べた．
　"did a poor job" なんかは批判の域であるが，"she was an evil woman" "she was terrible" は明らかに人格攻撃である．
　かつてトランプは，オバマ元大統領とヒラリー・クリントン議員が性的な関係にあるかのようなフェイク情報を卑猥な言葉を用いて垂れ流したが，アメリカ人はこれを特に問題にしなかった．
　このことなんかは，私たち日本人にはまことに理解しにくい政治風土である．
　一方のペロシ議員は，トランプを vile creature と呼んだ．
　これは例えば，「指輪物語」などのファンタジーに登場する醜いオークなどが vile creature である．
　あるいは，女性が汚らわしい男に「寄らないで！このケダモノ！」と言うときの「ケダモノ！」がニュアンスとして近い．
　私見だが，vile creature は evil woman より酷い罵りだ．
　ま，どっちもどっちである．
